“Stand Up” Drops At Just The Right Time!

Dear Mise Music Lovers,

I’ve decided to add a personal note here as “Stand Up” officially hits the digital music world. I feel like now, more than ever, is the right time for this song. It is, after all, so very personal.

Equality is defined as the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities. Too many people have needlessly struggled to be heard and seen. It’s time to keep change moving in the right direction with the right definition. It’s time to stand up and look passed the petty particulars and politicians that divide us and embrace what unites us. The only way to defeat hate, ignorance,  and bigotry is with an army of love. So let’s keep building one.

I want this song to be your mantra. I want you to be able to sing it from the top of your lungs and feel liberated. I want it to drive you to get involved, pick up a sign, and fight for your hard earned rights.

Heather Holley and I sat in tears during writing sessions, relating to one another about how we see the world and what we’ve received from it. We are different, but my loves, we are also the same. Join hands, open your hearts, and stand up. Don’t just do it for yourself, do it for so many other people out there that need our love and support. Stand up for women’s rights, stand up for LGBT rights, stand up for our black brothers and sisters, stand up for our muslim brothers and sisters, stand up for the hispanic community, stand up for refugees, stand up for immigrants, and stand up anywhere you see persecution. It’s time to rise, it’s time to stand up.
